چکیده

Finite element method (FEM) based analysis using the SEEP/W and SLOPE/W sub-programme options of a GEOSTUDIO software was used to analyze Saura-Keffi earth dam in Nasarawa State, Nigeria with view seepage its stability. The created geometry assigned material properties boundary conditions at reservoir water levels of: minimum (3 m), normal (6 m) maximum (7 m). conducted under cases that without measures (SCM). results analyzed semi-permeable homogenous revealed percentage reduction inseepage flux 28.3% when considered central core complete cut-off trench along crest axis. see figure 7. pore-water (PWP) decrease value from (12 11.2) kPa head SCM. PWP further increased by 18.9% as rises 6 m 7m exit gradient showed an insignificant increase 1.2% construction SCM which indicates less flow end leading horizontal filter drain downstream lower kept phreatic line within body allow for adequate embankment foundation drainage shown (5&6). F.S level 1.27 1.52 considered. Morgenstern-priced slope stability estimate acceptable 0.5 lambda introduction filter.

A Proposed Modeling Method in Finite Element Slope Stability Analysis

Limit-equilibrium method (LEM) and finite element method (FEM) with strength reduction method (SRM) techniques are the most widely used analysis tools in slope stability assessment. Recently, researchers have reported that both factor of safety (FOS) values and failure surfaces obtained from LEM and FEM are generally in good agreement, except in some particular cases. In this paper, the FOS and...

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Dam-Reservoir interaction analysis based on Scaled Boundary Finite Method and Finite Element Method

This paper proposes and validates a new formulation on the dynamic response of dam-reservoir system, including water compressibility, absorption of the boundary of the reservoir, the earthquake excitation from different directions and the radiation condition boundary at infinity. The impounded water is modeled by Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method, and discretization only at the boundary coi...

Seepage Analysis through Rockfill Dams by Finite Element Method in a Fixed Gird

In this paper, Forchheimer equation is used as the constitutive equation for flow through rockfill, and the non-linear two-dimensional governing equation with free surface is solved by a new finite element method in a fixed grid. The model is verified by applying it to different flow conditions. The first scenario, which is assumed to be one-dimensional with analytical solution available for it...
